Broadway Market / Columbia Street

Hello from London!
Another Saturday, another market! My hunt for craft supplies lead me to east London today.
First, I took a stroll over Broadway Market, where a great mixture of craftwork and delicate food is on display.

In the same street as the market is also a little wool store, which I could not leave again without buying three balls.

Just within 5min walking distance from Broadway Market one can find Columbia Street.  An accumulation of little colorful shops, one of them “Beyond Fabrics”, another treasure trove for crafters

A great summary for knitting and sewing supply shops in whole London can be found here:

I completed my trip with a little culinary treat :-)

Next time I will try to show you one of my own crafty experiments!

Merton Abbey Mills Weekend Market

Hello from London!
Ale’s post motivated me to go out and explore what South London has to offer in terms of crafty markets. My target: Merton Abbey Mills Weekend Market.

At this time of the year it is a bunch of little stands of local handcrafters and farmers surrounded by some permanent shops, pubs and cafes. Everything appeared a bit dozily… But the location is very nice and I already make a memo to come back at a Summer-Sunday-Afternoon to have a Ale at the riverbank!

My highlights were the jewel shop, were I treated myself with a jade necklace and matching earrings (I have recently been in China and missed the chance to buy some jade there.)

Also I really liked the pottery place where I found a nice butter dish.

Finally, I got a piece of bread pudding, which I enjoyed in the sun in my backyard.

What a nice Saturday!
