I recently had some thought about our blog. I have to be honest, in the last weeks I was not able to post much and constantly had a bad conscience. I feel in order to make you followers happy, we should post every week. But recently my life was just too busy. And then this week after a lot of traveling for work, for the first time in long, I had time to breath again. I looked at my to do list and saw the blog has been neglected for 4 weeks now… Instantly, I felt bad and thought which project I should prepare next …
But then I stopped and had another look at my to do list… Also I wanted to sent a birthday present to my aunt, who just finished chemo, I wanted to sent a welcome present to little Ida, the newborn daughter of my friend in London, I wanted to sent postcards from Utrecht to friends since weeks… So then I realised that actually I want to put back my priority to make real people in my life happy and the blog followers only come second. Do you understand what I mean?
I think our blog is great. It kept me motivated to try new things and it kept me close to Ale. I think it is amazing that we managed the market and spend a day among many crafty soulemates. But lately, I feel something went wrong… This blog should be joy, not stress!!!
Thus, I feel I need a break… maybe it is that after a year dedication, I feel there are other new things I want to try and this will be the end of me posting… maybe I really just need a break and will be back posting with new energy soon. At the moment I don’t know…
I hope all that read this will understand… Don’t abandon this space. There will be more craftyness happening here! But for now I need to get back from virtuality to reality. I hope to see some of you out there :-)
It has been one week, on a very turbulent day, windy and cloudy and with a storm in the middle of that day. But WE DID IT!
The 6 of us were present, and thank to all our motivation and excitement, we made up our stand and try to sell all day long.
Here I show our items:
1) Antje’s origamis.
2) Ale (me!)’s crochet and fimo items.
3) Rossana’s crochet fruits potholders.
4) Bettina’s jewelry.
5) Bettina’s friend postcards.
6) Janine’s jewelry.
Honestly we didn’t sell as we wished… But it was a difficult Saturday we guess. Every stand was actually not selling a lot but we did sell a little each one!
Hope to be more lucky next time. Anyway we had fun and we understood a lot more.
Labels, pricing, little packages, business-cards for our Blog, display furnitures for the market, bins for the little items we create, organizing girls and stand with the market (i.e. chairs, table, umbrella for the sun, boxes, food and drinks)… and so on. I didn’t know it was going to be so tiring to prepare everything for a real sale. At the beginning it looked like the main activity was to CREATE things and then simply try to sell them…But it is so much work more!
But the good thing is that we are – all 6 girls – still motivated and very exited for the stand in the Frau Gerolds Garten of Zürich that we booked for this very Saturday 27th June!
And seeing all the items together made me create even more! I started to mix crochet with Fimo and other kind of beads or material like leather, cotton, wood and tassels. I just hope my desk is gonna be less messy next week. ;-)
Next post will be about our market, hopefully…Because it all depends of the weather of Saturday.
When it comes to summer, my crafty imagination goes to colorful and easy-to-wear jewelry!
This time I tried with fimo beads, following the inspiration of the Australian artist Emily Green.
She really has a special way to mix colors and shapes. I tried my best with just three colors, some mixes and a lot of patient.
Here some ways to wear them. It is a summer piece that matches with casual cloths as well as a bit fancy ones. And even the pregnant women could use this funny accessorize! ;-)
I like very much the texture of Fimo, the sounds it makes and its color intensity. I wish I could make more colors and try more combinations of them.
Works are in progress for making some different ones for the market of 27th June in Zürich in Frau Gerolds Garten.
We are all (actually 5 creative souls!) very exited for the upcoming market. Sure we’ll have a busy creative June and make our best for that little event of ours! Looking forward to share this little moment with my girl-friends!
Happy weekend creative folk,
As long as we were traveling with the car during the day, I was sometimes crocheting with my own cotton brought from Italy. And I started to work on two projects: one teddy bear rattle and a pair of baby shoes.
Processed with Moldiv
The teddy bear rattle is a simplification of the one I made some time ago.
The shoes are my own creation, starting with a pattern of simple baby shoes I added some colors and edged with a contrasting color.
I am now looking for flu cotton… I am doing some research but it doesn’t seem so easy to find some good ones with a fair price. It would be so nice to add some of them to very simple baby or kitchen cloths!
By the way, Oman was a surprising wonderful place to visit for us! It has everything and the landscapes are so different one from each other (and we were just traveling in the northern part of it): desert, mountains, canyons, wadi and beautiful beaches, giant turtles making nests on the beach, great and cheap food, very easy to camp everywhere. And also quite safe.
We treated our selves a bit for the last day, going to an amazing resort near Muscat, made in a great locations amongst rocks and super nice sea coast.
A place to discover.
Hoi from Utrecht and sorry for the long absence… The last weeks have been busy. I relocated for work reasons to Utrecht for a few month. I love my new temporary home and currently explore every corner of this adorable little city. Today, the weather was sunny and spring was in the air, thus I decided to go for a long walk…
The nature here is beautiful. From when I left home until I returned, I found some little treasures on the way and had the idea for a new crafty project.
I combined the little treasures to a little pendant and added a little tag stating the location and the date of my walk.
So whenever I will yearn for some sunny beautiful spring nature, I will wear my “Utrecht 10.5.2015” pendant :-) Currently, I am in the mood for long walks. Maybe I will start a little promenade treasure pendant series. how do you like this idea? With personal notes, I think they will also make nice gift. It like giving away nice memories… Till soon! Enjoy spring!
