Balls, balls, balls… lately I wanted to concentrate on this object, very easy to make with crochet hook and cotton.
…And what a ball!
(In my mind, sometimes connecting this little action with the Italian literal translation of it!)
I still don’t know what I am gonna produce with those balls, or for use a better expression, with those crochet beads. But it is a perfect way to understand the tridimensionality of the crochet, moreover textures and colors combinations. I really learned and found colors matching together for further crochet experiments!
Here the free pattern for a ball with a hole. I used 2.5/3/3.5mm crochet hooks and 100% cotton in different colors and sizes.
CROCHET BALL PATTERN
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc2tog – single crochet decrease
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain stitch
CROCHET BALL (WITH HOLE):
This is worked in a continuous spiral.
Round 1: 6 sc into a magic ring. (6 sts) NOTE: Don’t pull the magic ring completely shut. You’ll need a bit of space to thread the ribbon through.
Round 2: Work 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 3: *Work 1 sc in next 2 sts, then 2 SC in next stitch.* Repeat from * 3 more times. (16 sts)
Round 4: *Work 1 sc in next 3 sts, then 2 SC in next stitch.* Repeat from * 3 more times. (20 sts)
Round 5-8: Work 1 sc in each stitch around. (20 sts)
Round 9: * Work 1 sc in next 3 sts, then sc2tog.* Repeat from * 3 more times. (16 sts)
You’ll want to insert the wooden bead around now, if not earlier.
Round 10: *Work 1 sc in next 2 sts, then sc2tog.* Repeat from * 3 more times. (12 sts)
Round 11: sc2tog 6 times. (6 sts)
Fasten off and weave in ends. Again, don’t shut the hold completely, as you’ll need space for the ribbon to go through.
As you can see my desk is getting crowded. Balls and other beads for necklaces or something else. Still I do not have Idea, but the desk is supposed to be even worse all over the weekend, while I am gonna concentrate in making my final items for the Frau Gerolds Garten of June 27th!
Happy crafting to my crafty friends,
and a special Hello! to my dear friend Clarita from Colombia, who is passing from time to time! ;-)
